Catching Rule Clarification

The YSBA rule for catchers has NOT changed from 2007, i.e a player may not catch more than 3 innings in Minor or Major Mosquito and may not catch more than 4 innings for Minor or Major Pee Wee.  In either case, a player may not both pitch and catch in the same game.  Irrespective of the interlock rules, which does mention the catching rule, it is imcumbent of all YSBA coaches to follow this rule whether it is a YSBA only or interlock game.

 Message from the President

Welcome to another season of York Simcoe Baseball!

2008 promises to be yet another exciting season of baseball for players of all ages within York Simcoe. The 2008 season is one which the YSBA enters with much excitement.  The Rep interlock with our friends and partners in the Toronto Baseball Association (TBA) enters its second year and if 2007 was any indication, 2008 will be even more exciting and rewarding.

Our Select program continues to grow and flourish with even more teams participating in 2008 and with greater representation from Locals across the region.

Our web site, while no longer new continues to evolve and improve and we will continue to add new features in order to provide a site which satisfies each of our stakeholders and provides you current and timely information.

We are very excited about some of the new activities planned for this summer within the YSBA:

 - The Inaugural YSBA Intact House League Tournament on July 11th -13th

- The First Annual YSBA Golf Tournament on June 17th

The YSBA House League Tournament, aimed at House League teams at all age groups from across York Simcoe, is an exciting venture for the YSBA as it is a grassroots exercise which provides all Locals the opportunity to enter their respective house league teams in a fun filled tournament that is sure to produce some great memories for the participants.

The Golf Tournament is a social event intended to foster greater camaraderie among the various member clubs and provide an opportunity for all to forge new relationships and friendships off the diamond.

I would like to welcome all players, coaches and parents to the 2008 season and am delighted to see that so many of our member clubs continued to grow their registration base for the 2008 season in spite of growing competition.

As the sport of baseball grows, the task of organization grows in tandem.  The challenge of operating smoothly becomes more difficult and time consuming for those involved. I am inviting everyone to volunteer some of your time and get involved for the betterment of the league.  This will ensure that our kids have an enjoyable and fun filled experience. Let me remind you that we are all volunteers!

In closing, I would like to personally thank all my fellow executive members and coaches for their commitment and dedication in volunteering their time to ensure that the success of our league is at the forefront.

See you all on the ball diamonds and have an enjoyable and fun filled season.

LET’S PLAY BALL!!!!!

Dirk Drieberg
